Tax and Customs Administration North

The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration is part of the Ministry of Finance. Departments of the Tax and Customs Administration are the Directorate-General Tax Administration, tax and customs offices, facility centres and a Fiscal Information and Investigation Service.
Directorate-General Tax Administration
The Directorate-General Tax and Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance is the staff of the Director-General of the Tax and Customs Administration. The Directorate-General consists of eleven independent teams and one team with a manager. Next to the teams, there is also a management team made up of five people, including the Director-General and a deputy Director-General. Another part of the Directorate-General is the Audit Department. This department is working on the control of the financial responsibility of the Tax and Customs Administration and gives advice about different aspects of operational management.

Executive branch
The executive branch consists of:
Tax and customs offices. Since January 1st 2003 there are 13 tax regions, every region has its own tax offices. Also, there are four customs regions; every region has its own customs offices. Every region is governed by a management team. This management team guides team leaders, who in their turn guide offices.
Central Office. The Tax and Customs Administration/Central Office is responsible for the execution of certain central processes of the Tax and Customs administration; because of this, almost all Dutchmen is part of its clientele. 70 to 80 % of all tax declarations are dealt with computerized at this office.
Fiscal Information and Investigation Service. This is the investigation service of the Tax and Customs Administration. The main tasks of this service include supervision and tracking. Supervision happens in the fields of economy and finance; tracking in the fields of economic, fiscal and financial fraud.
Facility centres
The offices and the Directorate-General are supported by the facility centres. These centres deliver means the staff needs when dealing with their every day jobs.
The Centre for Information and Communication Technology is responsible for all of the computerized tasks. This centre gives advice, builds and manages the systems, like the closed network of the Tax and Customs Administration and the systems that support the work processes.
The Centre for Professional Development and Communication supports the offices and the Directorate-General in the fields of transfer of knowledge and communication. Parts of that include internal and external means of communication and internal trainings.
The Centre for Facility Services takes care of the housing and all the material necessities.
The Centre for Process and Product Development is the design centre. This centre is responsible for setting up new processes and products for the primary process of the Tax and Customs Administration. Desirable policy changes are translated into (concept) policy publications, computerized support and risk selection-modules.
