Will you keep Assen on track?
Assen is a city with ambition. Together with a large number of partners, we are working on strengthening the city. With success. Assen is the fastest growing municipality of the North Netherlands; it currently has 64.000 inhabitants.  The next few years we will be working on projects that must increase our appeal: the Cultural Quarter, a new shopping area in the centre, to make the Vaart navigable, the centre facility Kloosterveste and new schools. Next to these projects high profile events, cultural and sports (like the TT) will make the capital of the province of Drenthe a vital city. During this process, Assen will not forget about the way her inhabitants live and that is why we will invest in attractive neighbourhoods.
The organization
The organization consists of the services City Management, City Desk and City Development. In total, there are 700 people who keep the city on track. 250 of those 700 are people from Higher Vocational Education or universities. For this, the council works closely with organizations and institutions. Fairness, ingenuity and guts are characteristic for an organization which is focused on issues from within the city itself. Every year the council has around 45 job vacancies, both temporarily and for a longer amount of time. We have a varied supply with at least 300 communal products. Most of the assignments are executed in a team.
